Bio-Chem Valve Applications

Chromatography - The need for a fully inert fluid path in HPLC instruments is satisfied with our line of isolation and mixing valves. These miniature valves provide all-Teflon flow paths, small footprints, and accuracies required of this demanding application. Examples of our valves used in HPLC instruments include a 2-way inert solenoid valve used to act as an off/on waste valve and as a pressure relief to protect an analysis cell. Our solenoid Micro Pump is used to dispense liquid onto a piston in a high-pressure pump to maintain lubrication. Other examples of our valves in use include wash pumps, reagent pumps, switching valves, and gradient valves.

Auto-Sampling - Today's high throughput applications require automated solutions. Our valves and pumps are used anywhere liquids need to be moved quickly and accurately. Liquid handling and sample preparation units use our isolation valves at the ends of sampling needles, syringes, and probe tips to conveniently and accurately dispense small volumes. Auto-sampling is an ideal use for our three way isolation valves and our micropumps.

Blood Diagnostics - Reliability is crucial when patient results are needed. Bio-Chem valves have been specified in diagnostic instruments worlwide to achieve fast test cycles, no sample cross contamination, and precise results. A pinch valve can provide a periodic sample to the analyzer or be used to dispense a rinse to the sample probe. Reagent handling and dosing, line rinsing, and venting are all standard applications. From complete manifold assemblies to non-sticking pinch valves for liquid waste removal, Bio-Chem Valve is the ideal choice for your clinical chemistry application.

Medical Instrumentation - Miniature solenoid valves are used in a wide range of medical instrumentation including dialysis machines and automated slide staining equipment. Specific applications for valves include saline wash maintenance for surgery, pinching tubing used in disposable patient kits, and pumping solution away from the areas of patient contact. The adaptability of our standard product line allows our valves to be used in many 'non-standard', high-purity or chemically aggressive applications as well.

Bio-technology - The aggressive solvents and reagents used in most biotechnology applications require an chemically compatible fluid path. Bio-Chem Valve's pumps and valves provide this path with products made from the most advanced engineered polymers and elastomers. Applications involving small volumes, where precise dispensing, metering, and measuring are required include solvent selection, liquid control on robotic systems, autopipetors, autosamplers, and liquid delivery to the system analyzer.

Pharmaceutical - Our valves and pumps serve many engineers who design custom machinery for applications such as filling machines, clean-in-place systems, and other specialized projects. Mixing valves can be used in dissolution testing equipment and combinatorial chemistry where multiple chemicals need to be selected.

Life Sciences - In the growing market for life science research our products are used in some of the most demanding applications. These include DNA research, synthesis, sequencing, and manufacturing, as well as protein and peptide instrumentation. Bio-Chem Valve's two way and three way valves are the products of choice due to their excellent sealing capabilities, fast response time, material composition, and most importantly, reliability and repeatability.

Environmental Analysis - The ability to measure and track our surroundings is critical in today's world. Our valves are specified in instruments that measure air and water composition throughout the world. Air sampling equipment uses pinch valves to create a vacuum for drawing in air at specific intervals. Particle counters, daily environemtnal monitoring units, and marine biology instrumentation also utilize our solenoid valve technology to achieve accurate measurements.

Agriculture - There are various agricultural applications for Bio-Chem valves and pumps including distributing and controlling the flow of cleaning agents, reagents, vaccines, and hormones in a range of products. These include machines and instruments that innoculate and vaccinate animals against disease, monitor the health of animal populations, determine the composition and properties of soil samples, and automate simple processes previously done manually.

Veterinary Instrumentation - Companies in this industry use our products because of our demonstrated leadership in medical instrumentation. Examples here include animal diagnostics, laboratory testing, and monitoring instrumentation.
